Overhearing Leonard's short joke, a man called him a racist. Leonard said, "Really? One little joke makes me a racist? You hear me tell a 10-second joke and, without knowing anything else about me and my 40 years on this planet, you're able to paint me with the big, ugly Racist brush? If you think that's justifiable, I bet you also think it's okay for you to tell the same joke because it's about your race. But that's not true. I bet there are many people of your race who'd be offended no matter who tells the joke. So they'd label you a racist. Maybe it's the joke that's racist, not the teller. But who hasn't told or laughed at a racist joke? Every race tells jokes about neighbor races. These jokes help one race deal with another one. You might not like them, but jokes are better than bullets." #821 Copyright © 2015 Mike Carlson. All rights reserved. www.eslyes.com |
