Talking Dictionary 617. Don't Do Anything Except Drive

Repeat

617. While driving in Queens Friday morning, Joseph heard his cell phone ring. He reached over to the passenger seat. The phone wasn't there. He looked for it. He saw it on the passenger floorboard. It rang again. He reached down to pick it up. He took his eyes off the road for just a second. He retrieved the phone just in time to see brake lights right in front of him. The crash triggered the airbag. When it slammed into his face, he bit his tongue. Dazed, he remained in his car. Police and ambulances arrived. Joseph's wife brought him home from the hospital that afternoon. His face was swollen. His head throbbed. Because of his injured tongue, he could eat only soup. He hurt so much that he slept in fits and starts for five nights. He promised his wife, "I'll never use the phone in my car again." 2.0
